Between 2005 and 2015, YouTube and other digital platforms replaced MTV as the main channel for music videos, promising a new era of access and creativity. With few resources, DIY works emerged with enormous cultural impact, reinventing the language of the music video. But this freedom comes with new costs: creators become hostage to algorithms, volatile attention and the constant need to go viral. Without the support of structures that previously guaranteed continuity and shared risk, the dream of a creative and democratic internet proves fragile. This exhibition looks at this pivotal moment and asks: what was left unfulfilled?
